Adobe and Prodigy Learning have announced Lily Wilson
from the Hornsea School
as the ACA World Championship 2016 UK & Ireland Champion. Having produced the winning poster in a design challenge for charity SportsAble, Lily has won the trip of a lifetime (sponsored by Prodigy Learning) to represent the region and compete at the final round of the World Championship in Florida.
On June 16, 20 finalists from universities around the UK & Ireland competed at the ACA World Championship UK & Ireland Final, hosted at Adobe’s EMEA HQ in Maidenhead, UK. The event saw finalists compete in a design challenge where they were given instructions, project requirements, and assets to complete a real–world design challenge for SportsAble using Adobe Creative Cloud. The finalists were chosen from two qualifying rounds and had achieved the highest scores in the Adobe Certified Associate certification exams this year in the region.
Lily’s winning artwork
will now be used by SportsAble in the coming months to promote their activities. Second Place in the design challenge was awarded to Matthew Owens
(Belfast Met College - the first Finalist from the island of Ireland
) who won a Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Mohammad Abdul Quddus Khan
(University of Westminster) secured Third Place and won a Wacom Graphics Tablet. Coventry University and Falmouth University also had the notable achievement of having multiple finalists, highlighting the quality of their Adobe Certified Associate programmes.
On the day, Prodigy Learning also hosted an Adobe Educator Conference, showcasing best-practice in delivery of Adobe training and certification around the UK, highlighting how ACA certification can add value to programmes of study in colleges and universities.
(Marketing Manager, SportsAble) commenting on the announcement said: “We were thrilled to be chosen as the charity partner for this competition and we were so impressed by the talent we saw in the room that day. What a future those young designers have ahead of them!
“Being able to tap into that talent was a fantastic opportunity for us. We saw some incredible work being produced to advertise our #PUSHyourself event on 18th September - it was hard to pick the winner! In the end Lily’s poster stood out to us as the one that best represented our brand and the poster that stated all the event information in a concise but eye-catching way. We will be using this as our main piece of promotional material for #PUSHyourself and wish Lily all the very best of luck for the final in Florida.
(CEO, Prodigy Learning) added: “The ACA Championship Final is a highlight in our year. We were delighted to support our partner charity SportsAble while also giving real-world experience using Adobe Creative Cloud to a very talented group of design students. We would like to thank everyone who took part and congratulate the finalists on a great achievement. We wish Lily the best of luck at the World Championship!
